Tired of being called 'Sir'
I'm tired of being called 'Sir' and frankly, 'Madam' is not much better. There really should be a nice non-gender specific word for addressing a business contact with. While we're at we, we could also replace the ancient 'Mr'/'Mrs'/'Ms' stuff with something more elegant. Maybe with plain 'M.', like in the book Hyperion (by Dan Simmons).

Gimme handier colors in CSS
For some time now I have been hoping there was a way to define a name for a color in stylesheet. I tend to use seasonally changing theme colors on my company site and at the moment I have to search and replace to get the old color out and new color in. It would be really nifty if I could instead just set an alias for my theme color and then edit that alias when needed.

Something special that beeps at you
If you are looking for a chimer (something that beeps at you at predefined regular intervals) for Palm OS, here is the result of my hours long hunt for one: BigClock does it and is freeware, too. For ATITD timing needs, FotoTimer seems very good, but this version does not yet work when the Palm is switched off. (And no, I don't play ATITD anymore.)

Mikä ihme saa ihmiset ajattelemaan että "f*ck" olisi jotenkin merkittävästi kauniimpi ilmaisu kuin "fuck"? En ole tavannut ketään lukutaitoista ihmistä joka olisi tunnistanut jälkeisen sanan mutta ei olisi osannut laittaa oikeaa vokaalia asteriskin paikalle. Kyllä, myös ne joita moinen kielenkäyttö loukkaa osaavat lukea tuon asteriskiversion, joten mitä järkeä tuossa mukasiveydessä on?

Audio & video bookmarks
Despite my efforts I haven't been able to find a bookmark-capable mp3 or dvd player for Linux. Are there really not any? When watching a long movie or listening to an audiobook, it would be really nice to be able to bookmark the spot you stopped at instead of having to write it down.

Being strong
Last week I took another walk to look at the ducksies and of course ended up photographing many of them. (For those of you wondering, nope, I don't have any thing about ducks, they just happen to be there to be photographed. I'd like to photograph dogs or cats or even people, but doing so requires permission from the subject or from the owner of the subject and that tends to spoil situational photographs.)
One of them had a broken wing which it kept semi-open. To my surprise, the little duck didn't seem to be the least bit bothered by that. It seemed to be living a fully functional life and swam and ate just like the rest of them. I don't think foxes live in the area, but if they do the duck should be rather safe in the water and when it sleeps it is probably not a much more tempting target than the other ducks.
I was impressed by that strong disabled (what an ill-fitting word!) duck and shot many photos of it. Unfortunately the most successful photo looks too gloomy to do its spirit proper justice.

Miksi ihmeessä kun ihmisiltä kysyy suosituksia ei-haukkuherkäksi vähän karvoja tiputtelevaksi koiraroduksi, suuri osa vastauksista on rotuja jotka ovat ainakin monien webbisivujen mukaan haukkuherkkiä ja/tai runsaasti karvoja tiputtelevia? Miksi minulla ylipäätänsä pitää olla koirakuume, joka ei tunnu menejän pois ja mitä rotua te, hyvät (fiktiiviset?) lukijat suosittelisitte?
Tällä hetkellä löytökoira vaikuttaa hyvältä vaihtoehdolta, sillä ellei 'täydellistä' rotua löydy, rakastettava yksilö kelpaa aivan hyvin.

Unconditional love?
It's often said that a dog will love its owner unconditionally. Maybe the conditions are just very easy to meet?
In human world unconditional love often means "Love me and me alone, and I'll continue loving you" or "Love me and respect me and I'll continue loving you". The word used for a person loving unconditionally, without any conditions at all, is often "doormat" or "punching bag".
