Wireable wireless headphones
Wireless headphones would be nice. I could walk around at home at night, listening to music or simply enjoy it in the loft bed. However, if I'm going to get an mp3/ogg player, they'll be pretty useless. Why are there no wireable wireless headphones?

Silva savuporosulatejuusto
Nerokasta!

Laptops as a space saving mechanism
Having just a laptop would eliminate the need for a largish computer desk. A smaller table would do fine. Perhaps I'll want a laptop... Or I do have one but this one is sluggish at 500MHz.

Linux copy paste rules supreme!
Why is it that not even so-called user-friendly Macs have such a nice copy-paste as commonly available in X in Linux? I want to be able to just paint and then press the center mouse button! I don't want stinking menus for something that could be so simple!

Garter belt comfort
Garter belts (or suspender belts) with wider backs and more hooks&eyes are more comfortable than those with just one hook&eyes.

OS X, Terminal and alt key problems
Today was my first day with OS X. When I finally tried ssh from it, I noticed the backspace didn't work, Scandinavian letters produced a mess, backspace just didn't work and either did alt. An irssi hell, I tell you.
Following steps offered a cure. Terminal-->Window Settings... then from drop menu Keyboard and check Delete key sends backspace and Use option key as a meta key. Then choose Emulation from the dropdown menu and uncheck Escape non-ASCII characters. After that is just works.

Huoneenmittausvinkki
seuraavat asiat:
- Ikkunalautojen syvyys
- Kaappien ovien aukaisemiseen tarvittava tila.

Tekijä on suomalainen nuori mies. Ja se osaa piirtää. Katsokaa vaikka.
Vaikea valita noista edes suosikkia.

I'd want something like Freedom Keepsafe but with several (at least two) smaller units for my devices.

My DVD drive sucks
The DVD drive in my computer sucks and refuses to read most burned DVDs, library DVDs and rentable DVDs. I should get a new one soon, preferebly one that can burn my backups as well.

Startled awake by a dawn simulation
How in the world is is possible to get startled awake by a dawn simulator? That happened to me this morning, 5 minutes after it had reached it's full intensity. (And yes, I'm pretty sure there was no noise or whatever to startle me instead.)

How come they make the back garters of the garter belts no longer that the front garters? Don't most people have buttocks?

Reading multiple books
How common is it to be reading multiple books at the same time? Currently I'm reading Getting Things Done (non-fiction about productivity), Bringing Invisible into the Light (non-fiction about Quaker women), The Message Boy Murders and The Reality Dysfunction. Generally it seems I go through non-fiction way faster than fiction.

Lingsoft has an online demo of their Finnish Morphological Analyser. It only works for 100 times, but might still be very nice for anyone trying to find the real word under the morphological mess.

Creative Commons and Flickr
Flickr is doing a wonderful job promoting Creative Commons simply by offering the users an option to post one of the Creative Commons licenses with their photos and as the result of that having loads and loads of photos under Creative Commons licenses on display.

Tab completition in Irb
According to The Tiger's Vest tab completion should work right off in Linux but at least in my Debian unstable I had to use
irb --readline -r irb/completion
to get tab to recommend methods instead of filenames in the directory.14:15 - /Bits and PCs
Galeon bookmarklets
I just now discovered the joy of Galeon bookmarklets. At least the in-page bookmark bookmarklet is handy when reading long web pages. I haven't yet tested whether it survives Galeon being shut down meanwhile. I hope it will.
Later: It seems the in-page bookmarks do not survive galeon being shut down. Pity.

Sugar in tea
Don't put sugar in your tea by dumping it onto the sieve when brewing the tea. It might seem like the handy thing to do but the sugar will glue the tea leaves into the sieve, making cleaning the sieve a pain.

Kahvila Soihtu

Cycling in a skirt
I like long wide skirts. I also like cycling. These two do not unfortunately combine that easily, so currently I'm looking for ways to skirtproof my bike and/or to bikeproof my skirts.
Tried so far:
- Attaching the front and back of the skirt together between the legs with a rubberband. (Works, but not for extremely wide skirts. Shortens the skirt a bit, making it a bit cold on colder weather. Needs to be attached carefully or the rubberband will fall off.)
- Pinning excess fabric to the front with a safety pin or a brooch. (Works on very wide skirts. Causes holes in knitted fabrics. Does not work on stiff fabrics as then the skirt for some reason hikes up ver insistently. Doesn't work at all on narrower skirts.)
To be tried:
- Skirtguards on the back wheel (Not easily available. Hameverkko in Finnish)
- Enclosed chainguards (Not sure whether there can be retrofitted at all.)
Furthers ideas are very welcome.
