Reading multiple books

How common is it to be reading multiple books at the same time? Currently I'm reading Getting Things Done (non-fiction about productivity), Bringing Invisible into the Light (non-fiction about Quaker women), The Message Boy Murders and The Reality Dysfunction. Generally it seems I go through non-fiction way faster than fiction.

Further experiments on body hair

I wanted to learn which bits I prefer smooth, which hairy and why, so I did some experimentation. I cannot figure out why I didn't do it earlier. When I first got armpit hair, I watched it grow, then started shaving and kept shaving, without much thinking why. I just assumed that's what I wanted.

Now, after some experimentation I know I prefer smooth armpits for the looks and the reduced sweatiness but don't like shaving them, at least not with a razor.

I wonder how many women just shave and never have tested their own reasons for it.

Often people say "why can't foobar be simple?" when it's plenty simple enough, just not easy. Or the other way around "why does foobar need to be so difficult?" when in fact it's not difficult, just complicated. Is there something in the human mind that equates simple and easy?

Why are shaved armpits and legs considered feminine?

Until couple of weeks ago I had been shaving my armpit hair since it started growing. Then I stopped for a while and now I have trouble understanding why it is consider so feminine, so 'normal' to shave legs, armpits and even pubic hair. Shaving is a lot of work. The stubble causes itching. Razors cost money. And the result is not perfecly smooth anyway, except maybe on the legs.

I have never thought myself much bothered by such things but today I was in a situation where I missed a good oppurtunity for a nice discussion simply because the person talking was just 2-3 metres away from another guy who was taking a leak in a very visible way and it was impossible to look at the person talking without seeing them both.
